Location: Mamou

Assignment Number: GUI300

Volunteers Requested: 1

Recruiter: Jennifer Robinson | Jennifer.Robinson@winrock.org | 501.280.3018

Winrock International requests the support of a Farmer-to-Farmer volunteer for a 15-day volunteer assignment (including travel) located in Mamou, Guinea. The volunteer will work with Aminata Agriculture, created by a youth entrepreneur (AVENIR) who was previously trained under the USAID SMARTE project. The volunteer will engage participants in learning experiences focused on various aspects of running a successful agriculture business. This will include comprehensive training sessions on business management principles.

In addition to the production of these young men and women members, Aminata Agriculture has initiated the establishment of local agricultural outlets to promote and distribute essential agricultural tools and inputs in rural and peri-urban areas, thereby catering to the needs of communities within the region. Recognizing the importance of sustainable growth, the organization is actively seeking a Winrock F2F volunteer to enhance the capabilities of its members in effectively managing their enterprises.

This assignment is intended to give participants valuable insights into the intricacies of business management. This learning opportunity will empower individuals with the knowledge and skills necessary to successfully manage the complexities of entrepreneurship.

The volunteer should have the following qualifications and background:

·       University degree in agribusiness, business, finance, agriculture, or another relevant field

·       At least five years of practical experience in the private sector (business, finance, or another relevant sector).

·       A minimum of 5 years of experience in financial planning, budgeting, and financial analysis, particularly in agricultural cooperatives.

·       Previous involvement in launching or managing startups, understanding the challenges and strategies involved in the early stages of a business, and prior experience running a business.

·       Experience working in developing countries (particularly West Africa) is desired.

·       French language skills preferred, but a translator will be provided if needed.

·       Be able to collect information on what went well and what was challenging.

·       Be physically able to travel to the host site where the training will be held.
