Dipta Rakshit

Dipta Rakshit is a human rights activist and trainer, nonprofit manager, theater musician promoting social issues through live performance, human-trafficking expert and consultant in developing a myriad of services for and outreach to disenfranchised groups, particularly women and children. Since 2008, she has been senior program manager for Winrock International’s Actions for Combating Trafficking in Persons (ACT) program, promoting modernized rights-based and gender-neutral services and improved case management for survivors of all forms of human trafficking. From 1995-2008, Rakshit worked as cultural organizer, assistant manager, and program coordinator for Bangladesh Institute of Theatre Arts (BITA), developing and managing programs and training activities to promote the rights of children and adolescents; to restore the well-being of women and children victimized by their communities; and to develop creative outlets for self-expression and empowerment.

Rakshit has developed and conducted a myriad of workshops on human rights, particularly for disenfranchised rural groups and women. She is also a gender expert, and has designed and led programs to improve human rights and equality of access for women. Rakshit has served as a consultant for several organizations (OWDEV, NGO Forum, Christian Teachers’ Association, Save the Children, and Banlgadesh Shisu Adikar Forum), designed modules and manuals on human rights and survivor services, and participated in a variety of workshops from Dhaka to Denmark. She is an ardent activist, championing human equality and equal access for all. Rakshit holds a bachelor’s in zoology and a master’s in fisheries/limnology from Chittagong University in Bangladesh.
