Carol Stoney, Winrock’s Director of Monitoring and Evaluation, has over 30 years of experience in international development, leading projects in the field and managing them in the home office. As director of monitoring and evaluation, Stoney helps project teams develop and update M&E plans, provides training, and advises on data quality and evaluation issues and on the development of M&E systems at the project and institutional levels. Stoney spent eight years as Winrock’s director of program development with a special focus on natural resource management, biodiversity conversation, sustainable landscapes and building capacity of local organizations. She supported projects ranging from the Cambodia Supporting Forests and Biodiversity Program to the Support to Ethnic Tibetans program in China. Earlier in her career she led the design and development of new environmental programs in Russia, the Central Asia region and southern Sudan. As a program officer in forestry and natural resource management, she provided technical and program management leadership for projects in Haiti, Guinea, Belize, China, Indonesia and elsewhere. Stoney has a bachelor of science in forestry from the University of the South, Sewanee, Tennessee, and a master of forestry from the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies. She speaks French and Indonesian.
