Winrock International is seeking a Farmer-to-Farmer volunteer for a 15-day assignment in Mamou, Guinea. The volunteer will play a hands-on role, engaging participants in practical learning experiences. These experiences will cover a wide range of topics, from business management principles to navigating the loan application process. The volunteer will also provide ongoing mentorship, helping participants apply their new skills to their business operations.

Moreover, women in Guinea constitute most of the workforce engaged in horticulture production and processing. This insight will foster a deeper comprehension of the distinct challenges and prospects encountered by the Cooperative des Femmes Agrobusiness, highlighting the intricate dynamics involved in operating a business and securing financial support within the framework of a female-led agricultural cooperative. Acknowledging the significance of sustainable development, the organization actively seeks a Winrock F2F volunteer to bolster the members’ proficiency in efficiently managing their ventures.

By the end of this assignment, participants will have gained valuable insights into business management and the process of securing financial backing. They will be equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate the complexities of entrepreneurship. The volunteer’s assistance will have a tangible impact on the participants’ ability to run successful businesses and secure the financial support they need.

The volunteer should have the following qualifications and background:

·       University degree in agribusiness, business, finance, agriculture, or another relevant field

·       At least five years of practical experience in the private sector (business, finance, or another relevant sector).

·       A minimum of 5 years of practical knowledge of financial planning, budgeting, and financial analysis, particularly in the context of agricultural cooperatives.

·       Previous involvement in launching or managing startups, understanding the challenges and strategies involved in the early stages of a business.

·       Prior experience running a business, securing credit/loans, grants, or other types of funding from external agencies (microfinance institutions or grant-making institutions).

·       Experience working in developing countries (particularly West Africa) is desired.

·       French language skills preferred, but a translator will be provided if needed.
