Winrock
International is seeking a Farmer-to-Farmer volunteer for a 15-day assignment
in Mamou, Guinea. The volunteer will play a hands-on role, engaging
participants in practical learning experiences. These experiences will cover a
wide range of topics, from business management principles to navigating the
loan application process. The volunteer will also provide ongoing mentorship,
helping participants apply their new skills to their business operations
Moreover,
women in Guinea constitute most of the workforce engaged in horticulture production
and processing. This insight will foster a deeper comprehension of the distinct
challenges and prospects encountered by the Cooperative des Femmes
Agrobusiness, highlighting the intricate dynamics involved in operating a
business and securing financial support within the framework of a female-led
agricultural cooperative. Acknowledging the significance of sustainable
development, the organization actively seeks a Winrock F2F volunteer to bolster
the members’ proficiency in efficiently managing their ventures.
By the end of this assignment, participants will have gained valuable insights into business management and the process of securing financial backing. They will be equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate the complexities of entrepreneurship. The volunteer’s assistance will have a tangible impact on the participants’ ability to run successful businesses and secure the financial support they need.
The volunteer should have the following qualifications and background:

University degree
in agribusiness, business, finance, agriculture, or another relevant field
·
At least five
years of practical experience in the private sector (business, finance, or another
relevant sector).
·
A minimum of 5
years of practical knowledge of financial planning, budgeting, and financial
analysis, particularly in the context of agricultural cooperatives.
·
Previous
involvement in launching or managing startups, understanding the challenges and
strategies involved in the early stages of a business.
·
Prior experience
running a business, securing credit/loans, grants, or other types of funding
from external agencies (microfinance institutions or grant-making institutions).
·
Experience
working in developing countries (particularly West Africa) is desired.
·
French language
skills preferred, but a translator will be provided if needed.
