Bioenergy Project Development
Winrock supports the development of commercially viable and environmentally sustainable bioenergy
projects. We cover a full range of project development work, and we have the capability, experience
and interest to participate in capital projects ranging from a few million dollars to over $100 million.
Our core strengths in agriculture, forestry, sustainable rural development, bioenergy and carbon
emissions, combined with our experience working in more than 60 countries, make us uniquely
suited to advance bioenergy projects at any stage of development and in any area of the world.
Those interested in learning more about Winrock's bioenergy project development can contact
Bioenergy Innovation Director David Walden.
Winrock worked with Russian forest products companies from 2001-05 to design and
construct new boilers, like this one, that provide energy for dry kilns.

Since 1989, Winrock’s evaluations of investments in cogeneration and
ethanol production for sugar companies have led to more than US$1 billion
of private investment in bioenergy.

Winrock has studied current and next generation technologies for converting wood
wastes into energy products, including gasification, catalysis, and sequestration.

Although jatropha, shown here, is widely praised as a potential bioenergy crop,
its agronomy is poorly understood. Winrock supports several experimental jatropha projects.
