Assisting Carbon Projects in Madagascar
RATIONALEConservation International and the Wildlife Conservation Society are contracting Winrock to provide expert assistance for three proposed avoided deforestation carbon projects in Madagascar. We have been selected based on our proven expertise at developing and evaluating forest carbon projects.
OBJECTIVES
Provide training to CI-WCS on carbon project planning and implementation and lead the creation of official Voluntary Carbon Standard (VCS) documentation for the three projects (a methodology and three project description documents (PDDs).
ACTIVITIES
Winrock will:
• Travel to Madagascar and offer training in carbon project development and carbon measurement and monitoring.
• Provide oversight and advice for spatial analyses and projects of deforestation.
• Create a new Voluntary Carbon Standard methodology for avoided deforestation.
• Lead the creation of VCS PDDs for the three projects.
