Winrock Land Use Planner (WinLUP) Tool


Winrock Land Use Planner Tool WinLUP is a tool developed by Winrock International for landowners in Shasta County, California, to be able to assess the potential for forest carbon projects from the reforestation of their land. It assists landowners in deciding whether to pursue a carbon project based on changes in land use and potential costs and benefits.


Calculate your potential income from a carbon project
by following these steps:

  1. Download the WinLUP tool files.
  2. Click "Open" and click "Extract." Choose the directory where the files
    will be extracted to.
  3. Within the extracted "WinLUPSetUp" folder, double-click the "setup.exe" file
    to launch the WinLUP install. (Make sure you unzip the file before launching
    the setup program.)
  4. Follow the directions in the WinLUPSetUP Setup Wizard.
  5. A WinLUP shortcut will be added to the desktop; double-click to launch
    the tool. Click "WinLUP Info" within the program for detailed instructions
    on how to use the tool.
