Cultivating Scholar-Leaders in Asia
The John D. Rockefeller 3RD Scholars Program is a grant-making initiative that supports
applied research on pressing natural resource and agricultural challenges facing Asia’s rural poor.
The Program continues Rockefeller’s commitment to building human capacity in Asia by:
Fostering problem-focused research that will result in actionable plans and
policies to sustain and restore rural agriculture and ecosystems, and
Increasing the capacity of Asian researchers to solve urgent development
problems by directly advising decision makers.
The Program commissions research teams through a two-phase, open grant competition which is judged by local experts.
Research teams are overseen by distinguished local scholars and leaders,
including funders, policy makers and former Agricultural Development Council
(A/D/C) fellows. This interaction enhances the ability of participating researchers to
influence policy and implementation of solutions.
Carrying on the A/D/C Tradition
JDR 3RD Scholars Program proudly
builds on the work of the A/D/C
between 1954 and 1985.
